Faculty and School scholarships

Faculties and Schools across the University have developed a range of subject-specific schemes to support their students. 

Most of these scholarships are available in addition to any University scholarships, up to a maximum of £5,000.

Faculty-wide scholarships

International Excellence Undergraduate Scholarships

Who is eligible: Well qualified International Students who apply for any undergraduate degree course within the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences.

The different Schools and discipline areas within the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences offer a range of scholarships depending upon your chosen course of study:

Chemistry

School of Chemistry Overseas Scholarships

Earth, Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences

School Scholarship

Who is eligible: The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of interview and achievements for the most promising students (home and international) who do not qualify for a Manchester Success Scholarship.

Engineering courses

Shell Technical Scholarship Scheme

Who is eligible: For students in the discipline areas of Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering who are registered on four year MEng undergraduate programmes. 

Students will  be selected on the basis of AAA or AAB at A level  or equivalent*, an interview and satisfying other achievement criteria. 

Two scholarships are awarded in each discipline area each year.

Chemical Engineering

Morton Scholarship for International Excellence

The award: £1000 per year

Who is eligible: The School of Chemical Engineering and Analytical Sciences will award up to ten of these Scholarships, worth £1000 per year of the course, to those successful international applicants who have demonstrated overall academic excellence.

Mathematics

 Mathematical International Excellence Scholarship (new for 2007 entry)

Who is eligible:  The School of Mathematics will award up to ten of these Mathematical Excellence Scholarships, worth £4,000 per year, to those successful international applicants who have demonstrated overall academic excellence.

International Mathematics Scholarship (new for 2007 entry)

Who is eligible: For those international applicants who do not receive the above Mathematical Excellence Scholarship, the School has available a large number of Scholarships, worth £2,000 per year, based on an applicants' mathematical achievement. 

All international applicants who satisfy the mathematical component of their entrance requirement will receive a scholarship.

Who is eligible: All new UK/EU and International students who achieve three A grades at A level (excluding General Studies) or the equivalent* and are enrolled on any Physics-based undergraduate degree courses.
