At Manchester we actively encourage students to undertake a period of study at an overseas university. We have a dedicated Study Abroad Unit that helps students to research their options and prepare for their exchange, as well as providing support during their period abroad.
Where and when a student can study abroad depends on their degree programme. Some courses (especially those with a language element) include a compulsory year abroad, but many other degree courses allow students to opt into the exchange scheme for a semester, usually during the second year of study. Students are still entitled to their student loan whilst abroad and students who participate in the European Erasmus programme normally receive an Erasmus Grant to help cover the additional costs.
The University of Manchester offers exchange opportunities in a diverse range of countries at some of the most highly regarded universities in the world, including:
Partner universities are carefully selected and we work closely with them provide students with a rewarding, safe and enjoyable experience abroad.
