Pastoral care

Pastoral care is made available to students in a number of ways:

Academic Advisers

Each student is allocated an academic adviser, who will be an academic member of staff based within their School. If you wish to discuss any aspect of your academic career, you can speak to your academic adviser who will offer advice and support.

Hall tutors and advisors

Whilst in halls, you will be allocated a hall tutor, with whom any personal or academic problems and issues can be talked through. Hall tutors are either members of staff or postgraduate students, who live with the undergraduates in catered halls. Advisors also organise social events for the residents throughout the year.

Counselling

The University Counselling Service provides both one to one and group based support to all students. Centrally located in the University Precinct Centre, the Counselling Service can help with any personal problems that may affect your work or wellbeing. All help is free and entirely confidential, and counsellors are trained to find the best way to help you with your problem via collaborative and sensitive discussion.

International students

Specialist advisors are on hand to provide support to all international students at the University. Advice and information are available in a variety of areas including:
