Year 10 Summer University: Wise Up … Do Something Different

Wise Up … Do Something Different Year 10 Summer University is a four-day residential summer school that takes place every July at The University of Manchester.

We invite Year 10 pupils who are from backgrounds that don’t traditionally progress to higher education to come and experience life as a University of Manchester student. Pupils stay in University accommodation, meet new people, experience new academic subjects, enjoy social activities new friends and develop new skills. At the end of the week, the pupils take part in a graduation ceremony complete with gowns, mortar boards and certificates.

Throughout the week pupils grow and develop from being nervous and shy around new people and places, to being confident in new friendship groups and familiar in their surroundings. They leave with a great understating of university life and most importantly that it is an option for their future.
