Andrew joined The University of Manchester’s Board of Governors in 2012 and is a member of the Nominations Committee.

Media and communications consultant Andrew enjoyed a distinguished career in the University’s Alumni Association, acting as its inaugural Chairman from 2005 to 2011, and has a strong track record in PR and the media. After obtaining a BA Honours in Combined Studies from The University of Manchester, he founded City Life magazine in 1983, before going on to become Diary Editor at the Manchester Evening News. In 1998 at the paper, Andrew set up award-winning creative communications agency SKV, which closed in 2020.

He has been involved in the Opportunity Manchester Fund, supporting students from backgrounds which are under-represented in higher education, especially those from the Greater Manchester area. In 2011, Andrew received a Medal of Honour from the University, its highest non-academic award.
