Essential maintenance work in the Alan Gilbert Learning Commons

On the evenings of Monday 3 August and Wednesday 5 August 2020, work will be carried out to upgrade essential University network equipment in the Alan Gilbert Learning Commons (AGLC).

This will affect access to systems and services connected to the University network in AGLC including our Wi-Fi and wired network.

Interior of AGLCTo reduce the potential impact on our staff, students and the re-opening pilots in AGLC, the work on both days will start at 7pm and is expected to finish by 7am the following morning.

The work is being completed by Roc Technologies, the University’s network partner and IT Services colleagues will be closely monitoring the network to ensure all services return as expected after the works. However, we would ask staff to be aware of any connectivity issues around this time and report them accordingly.

Why are we doing this work?

As you may be aware, the University is carrying out extensive improvements to the University network as part of the IT Modernisation programme, working towards making the wired and Wi-Fi network more reliable and resilient for our staff and students.
