The University of Manchester and FutureLearn have launched a free course on mouth care for nurses and carers of the older population.

MICRA are pleased to promote a newly developed a 6 week, two hours per week, free access online course related to mouth care. It leads the learners through how to provide mouth care for another person, and is aimed mostly at nurses and carers.

The course covers delivering mouth care for anyone who is struggling to care for themselves and our frail, elderly population, those living with dementia or having survived a stroke and those in hospitals, are the main focus.

Leading on the development of this course is Professor Martin Ashley, Consultant and MAHSC Honorary Professor in Restorative Dentistry and Oral Health. Martin told MICRA:

“The course opened last week and we already have learners in 57 countries. The response has been really positive.”
