Greater Manchester Vice-Chancellors & FE Principals issue joint statement following Prime Minister's speech

Commenting on the Prime Minister’s speech this morning on changes to the education system in England to help boost the post-Covid economy. The Vice-Chancellors of all the universities and the Principals of all Further Education colleges in Greater Manchester have issued the following statement:

“We welcome the Prime Minister's commitment to boost training and lifelong learning and to end the divide between university and vocational education.

“In Greater Manchester, all university Vice-Chancellors and all FE college Principals have been meeting together recently and stand ready to work in partnership to respond to the exciting opportunities outlined in the Prime Minister’s speech for the benefit of the people of Greater Manchester and the wider UK economy.

“Our colleges and universities have unique strengths and a good track record of partnership working to deliver outstanding education, training and research to the people of Greater Manchester and beyond. We look forward to levelling up our city region by building on these strong links and solid foundations in response to the Government’s new proposals.”
