HCRI student rep Hanna Matt takes home Students’ Union award

Master’s student representative for the Humanitarianism and Conflict Response Institute Hanna Matt has won this year’s University of Manchester Students’ Union award for ‘Student Rep – Biggest Engagement with Feedback’.

Hanna was nominated by peers for her continuous effort to gather feedback and achieve tangible results to further improve the student experience, for example by obtaining extended guidance on difficult assignments or agreeing to changes to course structures on behalf of her peers.

Hanna’s contribution has been invaluable, as her nominator reported.

“The HCRI course is still quite young, and many of the lecturers are keen for feedback, so having Hanna there to continually collate it and act as an intermediary has been so important,” they stated. “She’s not afraid to challenge lecturers, but she’s never rude, and always makes sure to explain every angle to both classmates and teaching staff.”

“I have really enjoyed the role of student rep this year and it’s rewarding to know my efforts were appreciated by my classmates,” Hanna said, adding that she is glad other students consider her capable of representing them and their concerns to improve their experience at HCRI.
