Library service availability over the Christmas break

Study spaces

Over the Christmas break, study spaces will be available at the Alan Gilbert Learning Commons.

From Saturday, 19 December 2020 to Sunday, 3 January 2021, the AGLC will be open 9am-8pm, Monday to Friday and 10am-4pm, Saturday and Sunday. It will be closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

You must book your study spaces online in advance. Booking will open as follows: 

  • Fri 11 Dec (for Mon 14 - Sun 20 Dec inclusive)
  • Fri 18 Dec (for Mon 21 - Thu 24 Dec inclusive)
  • Weds 23 Dec (for Sun 27 Dec - Sun 3 Jan inclusive)

Please remember to bring your University ID card to enter the building.

The AGLC will be staffed by Security only over the break.

Online help and support

Library Chat will be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during this period, including Christmas Day and Boxing Day. It will be staffed by third-party partner institutions.

Returning books

Please return books that you no longer need before you travel home. These can be returned in the book return bin in the entrance of Main Library.

If you can't get on to campus to return your books at Main Library, you can use the book return box outside the reception area at the entrance to Owens Park.

If you are staying on campus, you will be able to return books to the book return bin in the AGLC entrance from Saturday, 19 December 2020.

Other Library services

All other Library services will not be available until 4 January, apart from Special Collections which will reopen at Main Library on 5 January and The John Rylands Library on 6 January.

All other Library sites will be closed from Saturday, 19 December 2020 to Sunday, 3 January 2021.
