Manchester in Nature's top 3 for UK chemistry institutional output
The University of Manchester has been ranked in the top three for UK institutional output in chemistry by science journal Nature.
Publishing a special edition of the Nature Index Annual Tables that highlights the rising stars of high-quality research, Nature also ranked Manchester in the top 75 institutions within physical science worldwide.
The Nature Index is a database of author affiliation information collated from research articles published in an independently-selected group of 82 high-quality science journals.
Each year it publishes its annual tables, which rank each university on the share of authors affiliated to each institution, and this is based on publications between 1 January and 31 December. Its 2020 rankings are based on its 2019 data.
The elevated ranking for chemistry is testament to the high quality of Manchester's output in this key area.
