Materials PhD student wins Manchester Business Talent Competition

A third-year PhD student from The University of Manchester's School of Materials has won first place in a prestigious talent competition.

Qian Chen collected the award in the Manchester Business Talent Competition section of the Manchester China-Britain Business Conference 2019, and was presented with his certificate by June Hitchen, the Lord Mayor of Manchester.

The event took place on 30 March at The University of Manchester and was organised by the Manchester Chinese Business Society.

Qian's entry project was based on his PhD studies into laser processing for perovskite solar cells under the supervision of Dr Zhu Liu. His award win was particularly significant in demonstrating not only a PhD student's scientific research, but also their entrepreneurial mind and vision for innovation.
