Mathematics staff and students win Making a Difference awards

Saralees Nadarajah and Martin Wiegand won Highly Commended awards at The University of Manchester's Making a Difference 2019 awards.

Saralees and Martin won for their 'outstanding contribution to equality, diversity and inclusion' in regards to the EducateAfrica project.

The project began in 2017 with Dr Nadarajah supporting the Zimbabwe community by providing lectures and assistance at the University of Zimbabwe.

Both Saralees and Martin aspire to gain free learning platforms that can include essential material, lectures and chatrooms that will improve learning mathematics in African universities.

The Making a Difference awards took place on 2 May 2019 at the University's Whitworth Hall, and were hosted by Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell.

The Awards celebrate our staff, students, alumni and external partners. We are very proud to have individuals who have such a positive impact on the social wellbeing of our communities and society as a whole.
