Maths hosts 2019 Ollerenshaw lecture

The University of Manchester's Department of Mathematics has hosted its prestigious Dame Kathleen Ollerenshaw Public Lecture for 2019, featuring a special guest speaker.

Taking place on Tuesday, 22 October in University Place, the annual event saw attendees taken on a mathematical rollercoaster of emotions with speaker Dr Vicky Neale from the University of Oxford. Dr Neale is the Whitehead Lecturer at the Mathematical Institute and a Supernumerary Fellow at Balliol College.

Staff, students, alumni and the general public were all in attendance at the lecture, which is named in honour and recognition of Dame Kathleen Ollerenshaw (1912-2014). Dame Kathleen was a Manchester-born mathematician, astronomer and influential political figure.

The Department would like to thank everyone who attended this year's event, and of course Dr Neale for giving a superb lecture.
