MICRA hosts final 2020 ageing webinar

MICRA concluded its successful 2020 webinar series on 3 December with the event: Ageing in the context of global migrations. More ageing themed webinars will be scheduled for 2021.

The December webinar asked what it means to age in a context of changing migration flows. The world is rapidly ageing and its migratory patterns are also constantly changing.

Three presentations aimed to present the latest findings from ongoing research on ageing and migration from different parts of the world. What does it mean to age while your adult children are abroad? How is the experience of migration different for older migrants? What does it mean to care transnationally?

The webinar was chaired by Professor Christopher Phillipson and featured papers by Tanja Bastia (University of Manchester) and Claudia Calsina Valenzuela (Universidad de San Simon, Cochabamba); Md Farid Miah and Russell King (School of Global Studies, University of Sussex); and Luis Eduardo Pérez Murcia (University of Trento).
