News from Centre for New Writing students, staff and alumni – December 2018

Ed Atkins and Fatema Abdoolcarim cover.PhD student Mariah Whelan has been shortlisted for the Aesthetica Magazine Creative Writing Award for her poem 'Viaduct'. 

On 28 November 2017-18 Masters student Roma Havers returned to NIAMOS in Hulme with a performance her MA dissertation and one-woman show, Bolted. She will perform Bolted at UK Young Artists’ biennial festival New Collectives 2019 in Nottingham in February 2019.

On 9 December, PhD student Fatema Abdoolcarim presented new work at the Murmur#7 reading series at Common.

2019 Burgess Fellow Zaffar Kunial has been shortlisted for the 2018 Costa Poetry Award for his debut poetry collection, Us.

Congratulations to Centre for New Writing graduate Susie Stubbs who has been appointed the new Chair of the Castlefield Gallery Board of Trustees. Susie Stubbs is the Managing Director of brand and design studio Modern Designers, and took up her appointment as Chair at the Castlefield Gallery at the end of November.
