Prof Chris Todd features in British Geriatrics conference

The British Geriatrics Society's 21st international conference on 'Falls and Postural Stability' featured a presentation by Professor Chris Todd on falls intervention including research undertaken by the Healthy Ageing Research Group.

The BGS held their annual event online this year on 25 September. This annual event is widely recognised as the leading meeting in the UK for clinicians working in the field of falls and mobility medicine.

The full-day conference provided a forum for scientific discussion and clinical updates and enabled a multidisciplinary audience of over 200 professionals to share their experiences of best clinical practice.

The University of Manchester’s Professor Chris Todd spoke in the morning plenary session on ‘Improving adherence to falls prevention interventions’. This presentation described the research undertaken by the Healthy Ageing Research Group on falls prevention, strength and balance, and the NIHR Policy Research Unit on Older People and Frailty work on digital interventions. Professor Todd highlighted general evidence for digital exercise promotion to older people.

The presentation refers to the Older People and Frailty PRU's briefing paper on COVID-19 Technology for strength and balance. You can find details of this here.
