Professor of Politics launches new book on Climate Politics

in search of climate politics

On the 8th February 2022, the School of Social Sciences and the Sustainable Consumption Institute (SCI) celebrate the launch of ‘In Search of Climate Politics’ the new book from Professor of International Politics, Matthew Paterson.

In his new publication, Professor Paterson asks an oddly neglected question – In what ways is climate change political? Drawing on analyses of diverse initiatives and conflicts around climate change in Ottawa, Canada, regarding renewable energy development, urban densification, and within specific institutions like the University of Ottawa, the book develops a distinctive account of in what ways climate change is intrinsically political, and how understanding those political qualities can help us pursue successful responses to climate change more effectively.

The launch will be animated by a short presentation from interim Director of the SCI Matthew Paterson, followed by a Question and Answer session led by Rebecca Willis, Professor in Energy and Climate Governance at Lancaster University.

The launch is open to all interested parties and will be held both in person and online. We invite those joining us in person, to stay for a drinks reception, following the talk.

Registration is free, via Eventbrite.
