Sheena Kalayil to launch third book ‘The Wild Wind’

Languages tutor at the University of Manchester’s School of Arts, Languages and Cultures Dr Sheena Kalayil is to launch her third book ‘The Wild Wind’ this week (11 June 2019).

Dr Kalayil's latest novel follows the life of Sissy Olikara, who lives on a school campus outside Lusaka, Zambia, where political unrest is brewing. The sudden departure of Sissy’s father is central to her story, as she reflects on her childhood as an adult.

Winner of the 2018 Writers’ Guild Award, Dr Kalayil has also penned ‘The Inheritance’ and ‘The Bureau of Second Chances’ and will be at the launch hosted by Blackwell’s book shop on Oxford Road to discuss her work.
