We are delighted to announce that Sherilyn MacGregor has been promoted to Professor of Environmental Politics. This is a fantastic achievement and testament to Sherilyn’s achievements as a scholar. Sherilyn came to Manchester in 2015, hired as a Reader in Environmental Politics, into the SCI and the Politics Department. She was part of a trajectory of the Institute in moving into new areas of research and in particular focusing on how social inequalities shape and constrain transitions to sustainability. Since then she has been a core member of the SCI, playing invaluable roles on the management team and supporting other SCI members in many other ways. Her current funded project Towards Inclusive Environmental Sustainabilities is a highly innovative project that takes research in this field in bold new directions and integral to the pursuit of the SCI’s research agenda. At the same time she has played leading roles in high profile interventions, most notably in the last couple of years her report for Oxfam on Caring in a changing climate, and on feminist strategies for a Green New Deal. Congratulations Sherilyn!
