Smiles all around at HCRI graduation

Graduation week became more special as HCRI’s initial cohort of BSc International Disaster Management and Humanitarian Response became the first-ever graduates of the course.

To acknowledge the special occasion, Dr Gemma Sou, Programme Director, announced: "Everybody at the HCRI is absolutely over the moon.

"It has been an absolute pleasure to have worked with all of you for the last three years, and we wish you the most success in your future careers."

On graduation day, there were plenty of smiles and laughter.

When asked how it felt to graduate, some of the new graduates expressed it felt ‘amazing’ and ‘fantastic’ with another graduate proclaiming, ‘[they] can’t believe the three years have gone that quickly….but it [felt] really really good’.

In the run-up to graduation, HCRI arranged an informal social at Kro Bar, which provided an opportunity for staff to congratulate the upcoming graduates on their hard work and engagement throughout the year and bid farewell.

A video featuring Bertrand Taithe was also filmed, whereby the HCRI Executive Director wished the graduates good luck and encouraged them to stay in touch.

For the big day, HCRI commissioned professional photographer Peter Carr to take official pictures of the graduates and staff in their fancy attire.

At the end of the festivities, HCRI is proud to welcome more members to its growing alumni community of more than 600.
