TEAMS Training Package officially ready
HCRI are pleased to announce the TEAMS Training Package is officially ready after two years of development.
Funded by the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO), TEAMS is a project that aimed to develop, pilot and assess a standardized, validated and cost-effective training package focused on operational training for Emergency Medical Teams (EMTs).
Here at the Humanitarian Conflict Response Institute (HCRI), we have had the pleasure of being a partner in creating the TEAMS training package. Emeritus Professor Tony Redmond, Drs Adele Aubrey, Amy Hughes and Darren Walter were instrumental in developing the package. Upon the completion of the TEAMS project, EMTs around the world now have the option to access, free-of-charge, a validated training package to enhance their teamwork capability for future deployments.
The Training Package is comprised of a set of eight simulation-based exercises specifically designed to improve EMTs' team performance through scenarios likely to be encountered in the field. Each exercise is a complete stand-alone module consisting of a concept note, learning objectives matrix, debriefing tool and with a variety of supplementary documents (injects, technical forms, reading materials and gaming accessories). The exercises are designed to facilitate and guide trainers on how to effectively organize and deliver the training. The eight exercises can be delivered sequentially to form a three-day intensive programme simulating a complete humanitarian mission. Alternatively, the exercises can be performed independently to accommodate each organization’s specific training needs, as well as time and resource constraints.
The TEAMS Training Package is available online at no cost. Stakeholders are cordially invited to ask for a personal access token to enter the online platform.
To facilitate the use and understanding of how to effectively organize a TEAMS Training, we offer a pilot Training of Trainers in Novara (Italy) on 24-26 June 2019. No participation fees will be charged. Participants will need to incur only their travel and accommodation costs.
We invite EMT trainers to take advantage of this unique opportunity by contacting us at crimedim@uniupo.it
