University launches series two of Novel Voices

Following on from Novel Voices 2020, Ellah P Wakatama and Creative Manchester, are delighted to bring you the 2021 series: Novel Voices 2.

the sunOver five digital episodes, Ellah P Wakatama (Senior Research Fellow, Centre for New Writing) will be in conversation with debut authors about their craft and the journey to shaping their first, published full body of work. These works will span across genres as the series seeks to explore a range of narratives that reflect the new voices that have and will be shaping the literary landscape of 2021.

There will be a special Manchester Literature Festival event that will see authors Caleb Azumah Nelson (Open Water) and Brandon Taylor (Real Life) paired in conversation with Ellah P Wakatama to discuss their sensational debuts. These authors have been pulled from both corporate and independent publishing houses.

Excitingly, this winter series will see an editor or two pop in to join their author in conversation, sharing some of the behind-the-scenes work that goes into the partnership of turning a manuscript into a published body of work.

Starting in October 2021 and ending in December 2021, Novel Voices 2 will feature writers such as Heba Hayek (Sambac Beneath Unlikely Skies), Micaiah Johnson (The Space Between Worlds), Nicola Gerrard (29 Locks) and Femi Kayode (The Lightseekers).

This series is presented in partnership with the Centre for New Writing and Creative Manchester and Blackwell’s Bookshop is open to the general public.
