Writing the Pandemic: Manchester's young voices

Writing is a great way of processing our lives. For young people living in a locked-down world, writing can be a helpful means of reflection and self-expression.

That's why the Centre for New Writing and Creative Manchester at the University of Manchester have launched a new writing initiative. Writing in a Pandemic invites students at Manchester high schools and colleges to send in their personal written responses to life in Covid-19 lockdown.

Running from 22 May 2020 to 26 June 2020, this is a unique opportunity for young people in Manchester to put their feelings about life in lockdown into words, while having a chance to win a variety of prizes.

Entries can be letters, poems, creative short stories, personal experiences or reports, up to one page in length and will be posted to a special supplement issue of leading international arts journal, The Manchester Review.

To be part of this project, all you need to do is email your response to life in lockdown to: creative@manchester.ac.uk with the subject header: Writing the Pandemic.
