Before joining History in September 2015, I was a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow in Chinese Studies here at the University of Manchester (2012-2015). Prior to that I worked as a Lecturer in Chinese Studies at the University of Leeds (2011-2012). I gained my PhD from the University of Leeds (2011), having previously worked for various organisations in the NGO sector as a researcher and writer.
