Role: Clinical Research Fellow

Centre for Musculoskeletal Research, Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, The University of Manchester, Manchester Academic Health Science Centre, Manchester.

I qualified from Barts and the London Medical School in 2007, gained the MRCP 2009 and joined the University of Manchester in 2011 after finishing my foundation and core medical training. After joining the Rheumatology NorthWest speciality training program, I spent two years as an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow and completed an MSc in Clinical Rheumatology. During this time I developed a keen research interest into microvascular disease seen in patients with systemic sclerosis. I commenced my NIHR BRU and subsequent Arthritis Research UK Clinical Research Fellowship in August 2013, and am currently registered on the 3rd year PhD (medicine) at the University of Manchester.

My current research predominately involves developing new ways to reduce the burden of painful and disabling digital (finger) ulcers in patients with systemic sclerosis. I am conducting four studies that relate to improving the measurement of digital ulcers in clinical trials, the pathophysiology of ulcer development and to develop novel, local treatments that are both well tolerated and effective
