Course overview

  • Develop your knowledge of and skills in identifying, interpreting and applying evidence in a health context by taking units from our MSc Evidence Based Healthcare degree as standalone CPD courses.
  • Fit further study into your schedule if you do not have the time to undertake a full master's course.
  • Study at a university ranked 8th in the UK for Medicine (QS World University Rankings 2022).

Policy on additional costs

All students should normally be able to complete their programme of study without incurring additional study costs over and above the tuition fee for that programme. Any unavoidable additional compulsory costs totalling more than 1% of the annual home undergraduate fee per annum, regardless of whether the programme in question is undergraduate or postgraduate taught, will be made clear to you at the point of application. Entry requirements

Home-schooled applicants

Academic entry qualification overview

We require an Upper Second honours degree or overseas equivalent, preferably in a relevant subject.

We may consider your application if your degree classification is below an Upper Second, but you have significant relevant experience.

English language

Successful applicants will be proficient in English language. Applicants who are from countries which are not majority English speaking must provide evidence of their English language proficiency. This should be in the form of a Secure English Language Test (SELT) at or greater than the following minimum requirements:

  • IELTS test 6.5 (with no less than 6.0 in the written component and no less than 5.5 in all components); 
  • TOEFL test: 90 (internet-based) (Minimum: Listening 18; Writing 20; Reading 18 and Speaking 20);
  • Pearson Test 59-65 (with no less than 51 in each component).

English language test validity

Some English Language test results are only valid for two years. Your English Language test report must be valid on the start date of the course.

Advice to applicants

A good application should contain all the required documents listed below. The required documents to be submitted with your application are:
  • two academic references on letter headed paper, signed and dated within six months of your application. Professional references can be provided in instances where you have been out of university for more than three years;
  • copies of official degree certificates (with official translations if not in English);
  • copies of official undergraduate/postgraduate transcripts;
  • a personal statement of approximately 300-500 words about why you wish to take this course and how it will affect your personal and professional development. This statement should try and refer to your current role;
  • a CV;
  • proof of English language proficiency (if required).

Each application will be assessed individually and those with missing documents will be discarded at this stage.
