The September 2021 academic year tuition fee is £19,500 (UK/EU/International).

We offer payment by instalments, so you can spread the cost of studying with us. Learn more about paying in instalments. Alternatively, if you are able pay in full straightaway, you will be eligible for 9% discount on the tuition fees (£1,755).

Course structure

 

This online and blended course has been designed to support working professionals who would like to study part-time. The flexibility of this course allows you to study alongside your other commitments and gain a University of Manchester qualification from anywhere in the world. You may be already working within the fashion marketing industry, or have a strong passion for the subject area. This course combines academic excellence with the development skills that are essential for a career in the global fashion industry and will enable you to work and study simultaneously. With CIM accreditation you can be confident that this course has the benchmark of quality and will be recognised by employers internationally.

 

Course learning aims

This course will equip you with the skills and knowledge that allows you pursue a successful career in the fashion industry.

Core units provide a solid grounding in fashion marketing from the perspective of the retail brand, the consumer and broader society. You will develop a comprehensive understanding of the role of fashion marketing within fashion brands. Additionally, the final research module allows you to tailor your study to reflect your personal and professional interests. 

Teaching and learning

 The course is delivered through a mix of teaching and learning methods including online lectures, guided reading, online discussions and online live group tutorials. You can enjoy gaining a University of Manchester degree without leaving home or interrupting your career:

  • The material is designed to be dynamic and cater to a range of students with different levels of prior knowledge and experience. If a topic is new to you, we recommend that you work through the material in a sequential manner. However, you may consider that you already have a good knowledge of some of the topics.
  • Each student will have access to a nominated Study Advisor who will provide support and advice to students from a non-academic perspective. The Study Advisor will also provide one-to-one or small group inductions prior to the commencement of the course. This will introduce students to online learning, services offered by UoM e.g. Disability, Careers etc, and help them navigate Blackboard.
  • You will also have the opportunity for face-to-face learning during international workshops and global fashion trips. During the these workshops and trips you have the chance to experience how the global fashion industry operates in different geographic regions as well as network with your fellow students and meet your dedicated team of academics. Through this you will build your commercial awareness, gain a greater understanding of the changing fashion culture and understand how fashion marketing practice is unique in different parts of the world.

Coursework and assessment

The taught elements of this course are assessed by a variety of methods, including essays, report-writing, project portfolios and presentations.

The majority of assessment is based on individual work with an element of collaborative project work.

Academic entry qualification overview

We welcome applications from those who hold a 2:1 UK Honours degree or an international equivalent. We also accept those who have an approved combination of education qualifications and industry experience.

We will also consider students with the following background and qualifications:

  • Students with a 2:2 UK Honours degree or international equivalent must have at least 3 + years' professional experience, plus evidence of career progression and a recognised degree or
  • Industrial placement years and internships with relevant sectors would be included within the 3+ years' work experience.

Applicants whose first language is not English, must also meet the specific language requirements.

Admission of candidates who do not meet our academic entry qualification criteria may be approved if satisfactory evidence of postgraduate study, research or professional experience can be provided. English language

You will need to be able to demonstrate competency in the English language and if do not already possess a recognised English Language qualification will need to take a test such as:

  • IELTS score of 6.5 overall with no sub-test below 5.5.
  • TOEFL iBT score of 90 overall with no sub-test below 18.  We do not accept 'MyBestScore'.

  • Pearson PTE score of 58 overall with no sub-test below 42.

Some English Language test results are only valid for two years. Your English Language test report must be valid on the start date of the course.

If you have successfully graduated from a degree at the University of Manchester or UMIST, you can receive an alumni loyalty bursary, which is a 15% discount on the tuition fees.

Upfront Payment Discount: 9% discount (£1,755)

If you are able to submit payment in full upfront then you will be eligible for 9% discount on the tuition fees.

One-discount policy: We operate a one discount policy; discounts and scholarship are not accumulative. If you qualify for more than one discount or scholarship, you will be awarded the one that is the highest amount.

All students should normally be able to complete their programme of study without incurring additional study costs over and above the tuition fee for that programme.
