Overview
The 'Clinical Endodontics' unit will include all aspects of endodontic treatment both surgical and non surgical. Students will also be expected to go into detail of diagnosis, treatment planning and treatment of endodontic problems.

Aims
The 'Clinical Endodontics' unit aims to see the patient as a whole and how the patient’s general well being is affected by endodontic disease. It will also aim to not only develop clinical abilities but also to stimulate critical and analytical thinking in both the clinical and research environment.
Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the unit, students will be able to:

understand the role of non surgical and surgical endodontic therapy for treatment of endodontic disease;

understand the influence that the patient’s general health may have on the use of non surgical and surgical therapy;

understand when and how to use special tests, including radiographic, and how to interpret the results;

demonstrate knowledge to practice effective non surgical and surgical therapy, communicating with both specialist and non-specialist colleagues;

when appropriate, appreciate the concept of multidisciplinary care of patients within and out with restorative dentistry;

comprehensively assess patients with endodontic disease;

undertake safe and effective non surgical endodontic therapy.emonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with patients and other dental colleagues regarding endodontic problems.
