Minimum upper second class UK honours degree or equivalent.

Nationality restrictions

This funding is available to students from the UK and EU.

Other eligibility criteria

Funding will cover tuition fees and annual maintenance payments of at least the Research Council minimum (currently £13,590) for eligible UK and EU applicants. EU nationals must have lived in the UK for 3 years prior to the start of the programme to be eligible for a full award (fees and stipend). EU nationals who have lived elsewhere in the EU for the 3 years prior to the start of the programme would be eligible for a fees-only award.

Applications are ranked according to: research area within the EPSRC remit; quality of applicant; supervision by new staff; project in new research areas of strategic importance; availability of CASE-style top-up and uniform distribution across the school..

Award may be deffered.

Deferral must not be for more than one year after original start date and is at discretion of project supervisor and admissions panel.

Additional information

The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) allocates funds (ie DTAs) directly to the School. Schools decide how to use these funds and which individual projects to fund. Various DTA funded School projects are advertised on the University and School web pages.

A portion of DTA funds will be allocated to the International Doctorate Scheme, providing partial awards to all nationalities. The difference between the standard UK and International tuition fee must be provided from non EPSRC DTA sources
