How to apply

We accept applications each year from around October-November for entry the following September.  Details on how to apply can be found on the Wellcome Trust programme website .  You should follow the guidance carefully on how to make an online application.

Advice to applicants

In addition to the formal online application, candidates should send all supporting documents (CV, transcripts, certificates, English language ability (if applicable), references and a personal statement).

About the personal statement  

Please provide a document of a 1000 words maximum describing why you wish to take a four year PhD programme and outlining any previous research-related experience you may already have (industrial year, final year Honours project, etc). Include any other information you consider relevant to your application.

Interview requirements

We hold a series of interview days in January each year.  Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend an interview either in person or by Skype if you are not currently in the UK. 

Disclosure and Barring Service check

Depending on the project you undertake, you may be required to undertake DBS screening.  We will notify of you this requirement if appropriate.
