Academic entry qualification overview

We have the following pathways with varying entry requirements:

Standard: 2.1 Honours degree in a relevant subject.

Experienced: As per `Standard' with evidence of Accredited Prior Learning (APL) in research training already undertaken.

English language

English language:

Students whose first language is not English must obtain the required English language score indicated below:

IELTS: greater than or equal to 6.5 overall (with a 6.5 in the written component and no other subtest below 5.5)

IBT TOEFL greater than or equal to 90 overall (with 22 in the written component and no other subtest below 20)

English language test validity: Some English Language test results are only valid for two years. Your English Language test results must be valid on the start date of your course.

Professional entry qualification

Please note that applicants must already be in employment and have the support of their employer before they apply. You will be supervised by two supervisors (one academic supervisor from The University of Manchester and one industrial supervisor from your company). We advise that you discuss your application for this programme with your employer before you apply to ensure that they support your application.
