What to expect

Discover English, Drama and American Studies will give you a taste of what it’s like to study these courses at the University and the type of careers you could go into with these degrees. The Discover Day will look at:

  • American Studies
  • Creative Writing
  • Drama
  • English Language and Linguistics
  • English Literature
  • Film Studies

You will have the opportunity to meet the world-class academics and teaching staff that you could be learning from as you dig little deeper into these subjects and participate in interactive workshops.

Our courses explore a range of forms of communication such as fiction, graphic novels, social media, film, performance, song, and poetry, and how they impact on the everyday to the global, and the historical to the political.

You will also get to chat to our current students about everything from the course modules they’re taking, to where they’re planning to spend their placement year or their semester studying abroad, to what work experience they’ve gained during their time here.

You will also discover why degrees in these subjects create graduates with the highly developed communication, critical analysis, research, team working and independent learning skills that are sought by leading employers.
