Discover Midwifery – Thursday, 4 July

This Discover Midwifery Day offers the chance to gain first-hand experience of the Midwifery degree programme at The University of Manchester.

Registration for this event is now closed.

I would recommend The University of Manchester as a fantastic place to study Midwifery because of the support from the lecturers, course organisation and its recognised, prestigious position for Midwifery degrees.

Midwifery at The University of Manchester

You will work closely with existing students and staff and gain an insight into both the midwifery profession and the life of a student midwife through talks, workshops and hands-on activities.

The day offers a fantastic opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the demands and rewards of life as a student midwife. You can pick up hints and tips about how to make a successful application for this popular course, while gaining practical experience of how teaching and learning is managed at Manchester.

Being a midwife is both a very rewarding career and a highly responsible role, working with women and their families as they progress through pregnancy, birth and early parenthood. Effective midwives must be skilled communicators, knowledgeable professionals and highly competent in all clinical activities.

This Discover Midwifery Day will enable you to meet clinical midwives, midwifery lecturers and students currently on the programme. You’ll be able to sample a lecture, a group tutorial and some practical skills sessions. The day will help you to:

  • consider if this is a possible career for you;
  • gain a realistic idea about the requirements of this demanding programme;
  • think about how to prepare for the application process and life at university.
