Course description

This course provides a solid grounding in all aspects of physics, both theoretical and experimental. However a substantial amount of laboratory work is replaced by lecture courses and project work in philosophy. Typical course units forming the Philosophy stream include: Moral Philosophy; Theory of Knowledge; Philosophy of Science and Ethics. The works of Spinoza, Wittgenstein and Aristotle might also be studied.

It is possible to transfer to the 4-year MPhys course at the beginning of your third year.

See more in our  undergraduate handbook  where you can find out more information about the course content of your chosen degree programme.

Special features

  • It is possible to transfer to the 4-year MPhys course at the beginning of your third year.

Coursework and assessment

Course units are normally assessed formally at the end of the semester via examination. Laboratory and computer based course units may employ assignments and other methods of continuous assessment. Philosophy options may include assessment by extended essay.
