BSc Developmental Biology / Careers

Year of entry: 2021

Career opportunities

Our graduates go into a range of careers.

Around one-third of graduates work in scientific research and development, which may require significant postgraduate study, usually a PhD.

The rest of our graduates go into a diverse range of careers, including healthcare and teaching or communicating science, as well as careers unrelated to biological sciences including management, finance, marketing and the civil service.

As Developmental Biology is not a vocational degree leading straight to a fixed career path, those graduates who decide against further study often spend their first year after graduation in entry-level jobs, building up relevant work experience to enter professional and managerial roles in a range of sectors. Many subsequently move on to exciting and high-level jobs in the UK and all over the world.
