Abstract
This paperpresentstheresultsofanextensiveexperimentalinvestigationofthemechanicalproperties of structuralcastironatelevatedtemperaturesandaftercoolingdowntoroomtemperature.Atotalof 135testswerecarriedout.Thespecimensweresubjectedtotension(83tests),compression(48tests)or wereheatedformeasurementofthethermalexpansion(4tests).Thetestsintensioninclude35steady- state testsupto900 °C, 32transienttests(5 °C/min and20 °C/min heatingrates,appliedstressfrom20% to 80%of0.2%proofstress)and16testsaftercoolingdown(heatedupto800 °C andcooleddownwith two differentmethods:quenchingandair flowcooling).32steady-statetests(upto900 °C) and16 transient tests(5 °C/min and20 °C/min heatingrates,appliedstressfrom50%to120%of0.2%proof stress) werecarriedoutforspecimensincompression.Thepaperevaluatesandproposeselevated temperaturesmaterialmodels.
