Manchester Graduate Talent (MGT)

MGT helps source paid graduate-level jobs for University of Manchester students graduating in 2024 and 2023 graduates. We advertise many roles within the University, and we also work with a range of organisations based in Greater Manchester, from start-ups to multi-national firms.

MGT vacancies cover a variety of sectors and a wide range of roles. They include both fixed-term contracts and permanent positions. To get an idea of the sort of roles on offer, see our MGT Intern Stories. You can find MGT roles on CareerConnect, further details on how to apply can be found here.

Many MGT roles are also within SMEs (small to medium-sized enterprises) which can provide an excellent commercial experience upon which to build your career. You can find more about working with SMEs here.

2024 Graduates

We have launched MGT 2024 to help you apply to graduate roles. We will post consistently about external opportunities based in Greater Manchester, our employer events, as well as tips for applications. We will have some MGT 2024 roles for you too, although most of our MGT 2024 roles will start to be advertised around end of March/beginning of April 2024.

2023 Graduates

You may still be eligible to apply for a role with MGT 2024, check our criteria.

Although MGT is not a graduate scheme, it will give you a chance to use the skills you have developed at University, build up your professional network and fast track your career.

Diversity and Inclusivity:

The MGT programme strives to embed The University of Manchester's culture of inclusivity and we believe having a diverse workforce can help to:

  • Be more representative of our staff and student populations
  • Create a more vibrant and inclusive work and study environment
  • Encourage diversity of ideas, fresh insights and collaborations
  • Attract and retain the best staff and students

We particularly welcome applications for the MGT programme from underrepresented groups such as *Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic graduates.

*We recognise that Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic applicants are not homogenous groups. People from different ethnic backgrounds have different experiences of and outcomes in higher education and the workplace. We also respect that all individuals may have intersections of identities and experiences.

The University of Manchester is a Disability Confident Employer meaning it offers applicants a guaranteed interview for MGT roles within the institution for students who meet the criteria.

The University of Manchester is committed to creating an environment where diversity is celebrated and everyone is treated fairly, regardless of gender, gender identity, disability, ethnic origin, religion or belief, sexual orientation, marital or transgender status, age, or nationality. We have a genuine commitment to equality of opportunity for our staff and students, and are proud to employ a workforce that reflects the diverse community we serve. Our University is a very diverse community: 17% of our staff are from a black and minority ethnic background, women make up 51% of our workforce. We also have more than 40,000 students, including 14,800 international students from more than 170 countries.
