In April 2016 Manchester eScholar was replaced by the University of Manchester’s new Research Information Management System, Pure. In the autumn the University’s research outputs will be available to search and browse via a new Research Portal. Until then the University’s full publication record can be accessed via a temporary portal and the old eScholar content is available to search and browse via this archive.

Abstract

DSC and optical microscopy were used to study the phase behavior of blends of two members of a group of side-chain cholesteric liq. cryst. silicones. One of these siloxane-based polymers forms a single blue phase. The exptl. phase diagram is constructed and then compared to the case in which one of the polymers is replaced by a chiral nematic liq. crystal, which also forms a blue phase. [on SciFinder (R)]
