In April 2016 Manchester eScholar was replaced by the University of Manchester’s new Research Information Management System, Pure. In the autumn the University’s research outputs will be available to search and browse via a new Research Portal. Until then the University’s full publication record can be accessed via a temporary portal and the old eScholar content is available to search and browse via this archive.

Abstract

Rapid T1-weighted 3D spoiled gradient-echo (GRE) data setswere acquired in the abdomen of 23 cancer patients during atotal of 113 separate visits to allow dynamic contrast-enhancedMRI (DCE-MRI) analysis of tumor microvasculature. The arterialinput function (AIF) was measured in each patient at each visitusing an automated AIF extraction method following a standardizedbolus administration of gadodiamide. The AIFs foreach patient were combined to obtain a mean AIF that is representativefor any individual. The functional form of this generalAIF may be useful for studies in which AIF measurementsare not possible. Improvements in the reproducibility of DCEMRImodel parameters (Ktrans, ve, and vp) were observed whenthis new, high-temporal-resolution population AIF was used, indicating the potential for increased sensitivity to therapyinducedchange.
