The Athena SWAN Charter is a scheme that recognises commitment to the advancement and promotion of the careers of women in science, engineering and technology in higher education and research.
The University is one of just six institutions to have won an Athena SWAN Bronze Award in the latest round of awards. The award demonstrates the University's ongoing commitment to women's career progression in science, engineering and technology. It has been endorsed by Deputy President and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Nancy Rothwell.
Many areas of the University have achieved the Investors in People award. Investors in People pulls together many different University initiatives, including improving financial performance, increasing efficiency and meeting our strategic objectives.
It also, as the name suggests, allows the University to invest time and resources in it staff and students, improving the University experience for everyone.
The University of Manchester has been awarded the Disability Two Ticks Symbol by Jobcentre Plus. The symbol identifies those employers who have agreed to meet five commitments regarding the recruitment, employment, retention and career development of disabled people.
