Finding work while studying

There is a broad range of part-time job opportunities for international students, both on the University campus and in the wider Manchester community.

The Careers Service can help you make the most of these opportunities, with initiatives such as the Part-time Jobs Fair and International Talent, a scheme for students with language skills or international work experience.

The Careers Service maintains lists that you can subscribe to and there are numerous recruitment agencies in the Manchester area that advertise temporary work. There are also Jobcentres, which can help you find work.

The work students undertake varies a great deal. Some examples include:

  • Administration
  • Bars and restaurants
  • Conferences/exhibitions
  • Customer service
  • IT/web design
  • Market research
  • Shops/retail
  • Translation

During the semester we recommend that you work no more than 15 hours per week so it doesn't affect your study.
