The Students' Union

The University of Manchester Students' Union is dedicated to the social, educational and welfare needs of all students.

As a student of the University you automatically become a member of the National Union of Students (NUS), which allows you to participate in events organised by the Students' Union.

You will also receive an NUS card which allows you discounts in certain shops and restaurants, and on some local transport.

The Students' Union building is the centre of student activities and includes shops, an advice centre, concert venues, a cafe and a bar. The University's newspaper, radio station and over 100 societies are also based here.

The Students' Union advice and Information Centre

The Advice and Information Centre is based on the first floor of the Steve Biko Students' Union Building.

It has two full-time advisers who can help you with problems such as housing and funding.

The advisers are also authorised to give advice and assistance on immigration matters by the Immigration Services Commissioner.

No appointment is necessary - you can just drop in to the centre.

There is also an office of the Advice and Information Centre on the ground floor of Barnes Wallis Building. Both offices are open from 9.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.
