Charities, foundations and trusts provide a range of awards for postgraduate study, including studentships, scholarships, bursaries, competitions and prizes.
Applications for funding, however, will not normally be considered until you have exhausted all other possible sources of funding. Even then, you must make a very strong case in order for your application to be successful and only partial funds will normally be awarded.
Comprehensive information on postgraduate funding opportunities offered by charities, foundations and trusts is listed in the following publications, available in most libraries and in the careers services of UK universities:
The Prospects Postgraduate Funding Guide has a good section on Charities, Foundations and Trusts, and includes useful listings of organisations which offer funding for postgraduate study.
