Jeff Butler is interested in R&D, design and innovation management. He has worked in research, consultancy and management in technology transfer and the commercialisation of new technology. He is researching 'the future evolution of R&D management and exploring the role of R&D and innovation in the services and creative industries.
He is a Research Fellow in the Institute of Innovation Research, an Editor of the journal R&D Management and organiser of The R&D Management Conference series. Themes pursued in these conferences and in recent special issues of the journal include R&D in China, intangibles and innovation, managing people in R&D, and managing R&D as a business. Future topics include creativity and innovation in R&D, and opening-up the innovation process.
Jeff has recently been developing a networked approach to project-based learning for research institutes and collaborative project teams and workshops to explore a range of contemporary technology management issues. He is a member of the ISPIM Conference Scientific Advisory Panel, a member of the International Advisory Committee of IAMOT (International Association for Management of Technology) and is involved with the European Doctoral Summer Schools in Technology Management.
