Laura Morales joined the Institute for Social Change in September 2007. She was previously a lecturer of Political Science and of Sociology at the universities Autónoma and Complutense in Madrid, and at the University of Murcia. She has spent extended periods of study and research at the LSE, Columbia University, the University of Florence, and the University of Amsterdam. She was awarded with the European Consortium for Political Research and the Spanish Political Science Association prizes for the best Ph.D. thesis in 2004.
Her interests lie, especially, in the areas of political behaviour, political participation, the politics of immigration, and comparative politics. Between 2006 and 2009 she was the co-ordinator of the Localmultidem project (http://www.um.es/localmultidem/), funded by the 6th Framework Programme of the European Commission. She is currently engaged in several projects on the politics of immigration, and on civic and political participation in established democracies.
