Biography

Terry gained his PhD at the Open University where he studied ethical consumption. He has published and participated in a number of important conferences in the area of ethical and service consumption. Previous academic positions include two years research with the Manchester Retail Research Forum at UMIST focusing on young consumers' lives, and a research fellowship looking at the evolving relationship between professionals and consumers. This ongoing research is funded under a grant from the ESRC Cultures of Consumption programme. Terry also has a PGCE in FE from the Faculty of Education, Greenwich University. His past employment is varied and includes social housing design, construction engineering in Arabia, and small business development in deprived areas. He served as company secretary to a small whole food retail cooperative in the 1980s.
