Biography

Dr Sotirios Zartaloudis joined the Department of Politics in January 2012 as a Lecturer in International Politics. Prior to his arrival to Manchester, Sotirios pursued a fully funded (Bodossaki Foundation three-year Scholarship) PhD in European Studies at London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) entitled ‘Wielding soft power in a world of neglect: the impact of the European Employment Strategy in Greece and Portugal’.

Sotirios also holds an MSc in European Politics and Governance (LSE) which was funded through a Propondis Foundation Scholarship and a BSc in Sociology (University of Crete, Greece). He won numerous prizes for his performance during his Bachelors degree including the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) scholarship and prize for best overall performance in Sociology department, and the "Manolis Drettakis Grant" (Graduation Prize given to the Student with the best overall performance of the School of Social Sciences, University of Crete).

Prior to his post in Manchester, Sotirios taught extensively on the European Union (history, policies, politics and governance), comparative political economy and international politics at LSE, College of Europe (Bruges) and South-Western University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE) of China. He holds a full-level Post-Graduate Certificate in Higher Education (LSE).
