The University of Manchester has the largest number of places in university-owned accommodation in the UK, with room for more than 9,200 students in halls of residence.

Our accommodation guarantees

The University of Manchester guarantees a place in University accommodation to:

All new full-time undergraduate students who:

• Are coming to the University alone;
• Are applying for a full academic session, i.e. September to June;
• Are studying for their first degree;
• Have submitted an application for accommodation by 31 August;
• Have met all the conditions of their offer by 31 August. (This applies even if you live locally).

Visiting and exchange students who:

• Are coming to the University alone;
• Are studying for a full academic session i.e. September to June;
• Have submitted an application form by 31 July.

In addition to the guarantee of accommodation for the first year of their course, from September 2005, international undergraduate students paying the overseas rate of tuition fees are guaranteed University-managed accommodation for the duration of their studies, provided that their reapplication is for a full academic session and is received before the deadline in February for present student applications.
