Alexandru Stelian Stancu is a Lecturer in Control Engineering in the Control Systems Group, School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Manchester and is also Researcher at DCF (Dalton Cumbrian Facility), Research Centre for Radwaste & Decommissioning. His expertise is in nonlinear control, on-line and off-line identification, neural networks, fault monitoring and fault tolerant control and its applications to ground mobile robots and mobile manipulators and to biochemical processes. He has authored and co-authored of 45 research articles. He did his PhD studies in Control Engineering at the Technical University of Catalonia, Barcelona, Spain with Doctor Europeus mention and mark summa cum laude in July 2004. Since completing his doctoral studies, Dr Stancu has held industrial, academic, and managerial appointments in Spain, Romania, and Belgium. Before the actual position at the University of Manchester, he was Deputy Coordinator of BIOSYS research centre from Faculte Polytechnique de Mons, Belgium.
